Ava TigerHill at TigerHillK9, Protection Dog Training

Trained for Excellence

Integrating with every aspect of your daily life

Our dogs start their training at eight weeks old and continue to train with us daily until they are ready to join their forever family, typically between 1 and 2 years of age. Their training focuses on foundational obedience, stability, agility, socialization, and protection, ensuring each dog is carefully prepared to meet the unique needs of their owner.

When you purchase a TigerHill dog, you’ll receive a personalized training package tailored to your specific requirements. We customize the training based on your living situation, daily routine, particular needs, and any potential security concerns.

What is a Protection Dog?

A protection dog is a highly trained dog specifically bred and taught to guard and protect its owner or property. Unlike regular pets, protection dogs undergo rigorous training in obedience, threat detection, and defensive or offensive actions to safeguard their family or owner. They are often trained to recognize and respond to potential threats, using controlled aggression only when necessary.

These dogs are commonly used for personal protection, home security, or by law enforcement and military organizations. Despite their specialized skills, they are typically well-socialized and can be loyal, affectionate companions when not on duty.

Breeding

TigerHillK9’s in-house breeding program and reputation are unparalleled in the industry. With over 10 years of experience breeding purebred German Shepherds, we provide our clients with the assurance of well-established, proven bloodlines. We develop protection dogs with the intelligence, capability, and stability you can rely on. Our expertise in refining the health, temperament, and key characteristics of our dogs gives our K9 owners exceptional peace of mind.

Upbringing

Our dogs are exposed to a wide range of stimuli throughout their upbringing, preparing them for many common, non-threatening situations that their future K9 owners may encounter in daily life.

At TigerHillK9, our dogs are raised to be well-behaved, loving companions within their forever families. While they possess an elite skill set, ready to defend your family in an instant, it’s important to remember that they are, above all, family members who crave affection and attention just like any other dog.

Training

Because every individual and household has unique needs, we tailor our training to each owner. Typically, protection dog training includes teaching dogs to recognize and respond to potential threats, while also ensuring they stay disciplined and obedient in everyday situations. The training process typically includes:

  • Obedience Training
  • Socialisation
  • Agility and Fitness
  • Protection Skills
  • Bite Work
  • Home and Personal Defense

Throughout the process, dogs are also trained to maintain a balance between being protective when needed and being calm, affectionate companions in a family setting.

"Hey Mike, I just wanted to share this with you. Was out for a walk around the neighbourhood with Vonn today. I couldn't see too well cos the sun was in my eyes. She suddenly stopped and stood still and there was a pitbull standing less than 3 feet away from her. No collar leash or person with him. I yelled at him to go away and he backed up 2 steps and stopped. My heart was in my throat, I didn't want my Vonnie to get hurt. Anyway he went to take one step towards us and Vonn let out a big roar and just launched herself on top of him. She grabbed a mouthful of scruff and shook him and then let go. That was enough for him, he left lol. And she just carried on with her walk as calm as could be. It was very impressive. She is a very friendly outgoing dog and loves everyone she meets. She is one heck of a dog. Very powerful and I have no doubt she will protect me no matter what. You have an outstanding kennel!"

What a TigerHillK9 Protection Dog Offers You

Peace Of Mind. Security. Companionship

Incorporating a protection dog into your security strategy provides distinct benefits. Unlike firearms, which can be turned against their owners, or alarm systems that can be bypassed, protection dogs are not vulnerable to corruption like a paid security guard might be. They offer a proactive security measure — the mere presence of a well-trained, obedient, and perceptive dog acts as a strong deterrent to potential threats.

Our Warranties

Health

Our purebred German Shepherds come from exceptional lines with dependable temperaments. By focusing on genetics and employing a meticulous selection process, we produce some of the healthiest working dogs available.

Additionally, we ensure that both sire (male parent) and dam (female parent) have certified hip and elbow evaluations, along with meeting our stringent genetic criteria. We thoroughly screen each breeding dog for genetic quality, health, temperament, and working ability. This careful attention to detail ensures that our dogs are well-rounded, capable, and healthy, ready to excel in their intended roles.

Perfect Fit

Finding the perfect match between you and one of our protection dogs is the most critical step in the acquisition process. It starts with a thorough assessment of your daily routine and family dynamics and culminates in welcoming a loyal, loving companion and protector into your home. Ensuring that the protection dog you select is the right fit for you is essential.

Our confidence in our dogs and training allows us to guarantee that the dog we place with you will be a perfect match. If, for any reason, you feel the dog is not ideal, we will work with you to find an optimal solution. From our initial meeting through the entire life of your dog, our mission is to ensure your satisfaction and peace of mind with your chosen protection dog.
